Fences

Livestock fencing across the West impacts wildlife.

Here's a disturbing photo from 2019 by Karen Klitz. This skeletal mule deer leg was twisted in a fence in northeastern Nevada. We complained to the Wells Bureau of Land Managament Field Office (Nevada) and they did eventually remove this fence (which was no longer being used).

Unfortunately we have seen many examples of wildlife attempting to jump over or pass through barbed wire fences meant to contain cattle, where the native species became stuck and died needlessly.
